Let me start by saying that I am not an archeologist. Neither am I a historian. When I visited Egypt and some of its temples, I said to myself that I will not prepare myself in advance. I will not read any guides or history books. I wanted to have an experience, similar to what a traveler thousand years ago would have had.
And it was as I wanted it. I was taken away by the vastness of the Hypostyle Hall at the Karnak Temple. I was speculating what a particular hieroglyph carved on to the temple’s walls could mean. I was trying to imagine how vivid the colors of the paint covering the ceilings could have been.
